Sport and our Academies

Interschool sport - Students represent Thornbury High following selection before competing against other schools in the district, division, regional and state competitions.  Swimming and athletics are prominent fixtures on the calendar and our soccer and girls’ footy academies give students specialist coaching and an advanced level of competition.  Our senior students coach junior teams and our VET Sport and Recreation students support local primary schools' sports carnivals.

Sport Academy - Talented athletes in year 7, 8 & 9 can apply for additional sport training once a week in Soccer, Netball, Basketball and Australian Rules Football.  We also offer strength and conditioning training sessions twice a week to students who compete at a high level for sports outside of the four listed above.  All the sports coaches are accredited coaches and have also had extensive playing experience.
