English Language Centre

Thornbury High School’s English Language Centre is an opportunity for our international students to develop their English language skills in preparation for studies in our mainstream program.

We offer two intakes per year (Term 1 and Term 3) with students completing two school terms in the language centre.

Thornbury High School has a number of highly qualified English as an Additional Language teachers who will support international students develop their English language skills whilst studying at the school. All Thornbury High teachers undergo ongoing professional development to support our international students.

Curriculum in the language centre delivers intensive English language development through the subjects of Maths, Science, Humanities, English, Health and PE, Technology and Art.

Students who attend our language centre undertake a specialised orientation program that prepares them for life in Melbourne and as a Thornbury High student.

The centre has been designed to meet the needs of our international students and to help them achieve strong, academic success.
